Lydia MalloyMarcial is an emerging artist who began sketching as a child in the small town of Lakeview, New York and Somerset, New Jersey is now where she calls home. She works in various mediums including oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastels, with her dominant passion in oil.
Lydia lives and loves art. From a young age she knew that art would be her destiny. She was always intrigued by art and inspired by various artists' that she new as a child. She sketched and painted throughout her childhood.
During her high school years she placed first in various inter-scholastic and local art shows. This led to acceptance into an art program designated for high school students at St. John's University, New York during her senior year.
Having the desire to own her own business, she made the decision to major in business. In 1986 she received a Bachelors of Arts from Clark Atlanta University in Business Administration and later attended Long Island University, Master of Science Accounting.
During this time she was always working on improving her craft.
She left her 15 year career in accounting to pursue that art career that she was destined to have. She started JOMA Custom Framing & Designs in 2001. She has various residential and corporate clients throughout the tri-state area.
Recently she was commissioned to create a piece to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of The New Jersey Orator's, Inc., a non-profit organization that teaches children the art of public speaking.
Her work is her passion and is influenced by her personal experiences. Each piece starts as a vision in her dreams, and comes to life by adding the vibrant part of her soul that she wants to share with the world.
